Garmin Connect™ App Reviews

Great!

I love it. Great for running and indoor cycling. I love how it includes minutes per mile for each mile, map of my route, my candace, and how many times I stopped. Really shows thorough illustration of a recorded run.

Great.

No complains. Wish I could load workouts thru this.

Opportunities for improvement

Garmin Connect gets three out of five stars for containing all the relevant information needed, consistently syncing with the device (at least in my experience), and generally offering huge amounts of customizability for the user. Simplicity and expected features are where the app falls short. From my perspective, half the reason to have a fitness tracker is to compete with your friends. So why after four years of this app being out do I not have the option to add and search for friends with Garmin fitness trackers via Facebook or even my contacts? I should not have to manually search someones email address to find out that they have one. Finally, the interface trades simplicity for customizability, which isnt necessarily a flaw. You may find yourself lost in layers of menus.

Still needs some work

I do like this app for the most part except it wont let me edit my workouts from my vivid art to reflect the correct activity. I turn the timer on while I am on my bike and it records my heart rate and time but I cant update the info with my speed and distance. Also I would love to have a way to connect this app to face ok so that I can compete with my Facebook friends from day to day.

Good

I am no super tracker and mainly used this to track my heart rate with my garmin band when running on a treadmill. Ive never verified the accuracy but I am its within range if not perfect.

Such an improvement

Initially this app was useless. Garmin listened to all of the negative reviews and really stepped it up to make a good app. Very intuitive, lots of information, easy to use. I love that it pairs with my fitness pal. Thanks garmin for making this a good app.

Great app

The app is great, works well but the menus can be a little cumbersome.

Beats the rest

Yes, the Garmin App doesnt always cooperate and doesnt track every little thing you would like it to but it is better than its competitors and I would include the Apple Watch in that group. The GPS feature is flawless and very accurate. The stats are good and provide most categories necessary. Gold, in particular is amazing with the courses library! My only complaint is sometimes it doesnt update or us down but never loses data. For the cost, this should be the clear choice if you are active!

Cant even log in (update, now logged in)

Useless. Worse than useless because it takes up space on my phone. Cant log in. I know my user name and password is correct as I can log into the website based app via safari. (Update: now logged in after 7 days of trying. App is working but isnt super user friendly. To be determined if it will be my go-to app for the info).

Edit activity time feature would be nice to have

Went against my better judgement and updated app. Very disappointed with how the changed the coloring of the heart rate monitor line.. Really wish they would include all changes being made to the app in the patch notes...heart rate monitor is all jacked up now seriously why mess with something when its not broken!?

The worst

I cannot pair my phone with my Edge 510 and have tried everything. The app is pretty but doesnt work. I will NEVER buy anything from this company again. They wasted 3 hours of my life.

Works great with my watch

Much better than syncing on a computer for me.

No Steps?

Lately, I have to sync 3-4 times to get the steps recorded. Dont know what the problem is, but I think this app was better before the last few updates.

Needs shortcut to heart rate

Good app but shouldnt have to scroll through multiple menus to pull up heart rate graph.

Love the watch but Garmin Connect is bad

The app looks like its ten years old and on top of that it wont connect to myfitnesspro. I expected more from Garmin. Why in the world cant I update the watch over the Bluetooth connection, really I have to plug the thing into a computer to update it. This will my be my last purchase of a Garmin watch/activity tracker for the simple reason the ball was dropped on the software to get the information off the device. Way to go Garmin thanks for nothing.

Good

My husband got it for me for my birthday and I love it. Use it everyday.

Not happy with latest update

I do not like the update. Its harder to find things and it takes more steps to get to what I want to see even after I have figured out where it is. I would like the option of having the prior interface. The new black may look cool but it isnt very functional to see multiple (relative) data at a glance. Since the time I wrote my review above regarding the latest UI, it has gotten worse. I have to force it multiple times to sync it. Network Connection Errors occur EVERY DAY. Error occurs on multiple screens. What good is this app if you cant see updated information? I also cant change my step goals, it wont even let me change to auto goal. It has been saying an error occured and try again but even after multiple tries, same error occurs. The device is Excellent but I need the data for it to be useful for my fitness progress.

Best in business

Garmin is great. They strive and succeed in make there apps and products user friendly. At the same time covering a broad area of info and data used by all users.

Works good for biking

I only use the app for connecting to my Garmin edge gps bike computers. It works great for that, connects to edge 510 and 810 easy. I like the active tracking so that my family can see where I am. Its nice to be able to download routes that Ive created from the app to the edge, but you have to create the route on your computer. Other than that, I dont use the app for much. Probably would use it more if I had a watch or fitness tracker, or the app communicated with other apps more.

Works well enough

Maybe if they updated it more frequently the reviews wouldnt be so abysmal.
